Come join one of the fastest-growing independently owned distributors in Northern California. Alameda Electrical Distributors & California Service Tool is looking for a full-time Director of Finance to join our ALCAL team. This role will be based out of our branch in Hayward, CA. 

The Director of Finance oversees various financial functions, including accounting, payables, receivables, internal controls, and financial reporting. Focusing on maintaining the accuracy and integrity of financial data and compliance with regulatory standards, the Director of Finance will advise and set financial targets, develop and implement financial strategies, and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to track progress toward organizational goals.

Responsibilities:
  • Develop and execute the Company’s financial planning and strategy in line with organizational objectives.
  • Analyze and present comprehensive reports on financial performance, highlighting key insights and trends.
  • Direct and supervise audit and tax activities, liaising with external audit firms and evaluating their performance.
  • Establish and enforce policies and procedures to enhance financial efficiency and compliance.
  • Ensure adherence to legal and company regulations, mitigating risks and promoting a culture of compliance.
  • Lead the budgeting and forecasting process, collaborating closely with the CEO and department heads.
  • Identify, assess, and manage financial risks to safeguard company assets and optimize financial performance.
  • Conduct in-depth analysis of intricate financial data to derive actionable recommendations.
  • Oversee the management and strategic direction of the investment portfolio.
  • Coordinate financial reporting and budgeting activities, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Manage cash flow, liquidity, and working capital.
  • Generate detailed and timely financial reports monthly, quarterly, and annually.
  • Utilize analytical tools to forecast financial trends and provide insights to the executive team.
  • Uphold compliance with financial laws, regulations, and guidelines, mitigating legal risks.
  • Other duties as assigned. 
Qualifications:
Special Licenses and/or Certificates: 
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Management Accountant (CMA) preferred
Education and/or Experience: 
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field required.
  • MBA or relevant advanced degree preferred.
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in finance and/or accounting positions.
  • 3+ years of experience leading a department and team.
Computer Skills:
  • Proficient knowledge of personal computers and peripherals, word processing and spreadsheet software, e-mail and the Internet.
  • Proficient in the use of financial management software; Solar Eclipse and Phocas knowledge a plus.
Other Skills and Qualifications:
  • Experience in managing finance for a complex multi-location company; distribution experience preferred. 
  • Possesses a deep understanding of financial principles, accounting standards, and financial analysis techniques.
  • Ability to develop and execute financial strategies aligned with organizational objectives, with a focus on long-term sustainability and growth.
  • Proficient in analyzing complex financial data and deriving actionable insights to drive informed decision-making; identifying financial trends and providing insights.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present financial information to diverse audiences, including executives, board members, and stakeholders. 
  • Thorough understanding of financial regulations and compliance requirements, with the ability to mitigate legal risk.
  • Experiencing directing and supervising audit and tax activities, including liaising with external audit forms and evaluating their performance.
  • Proven track record in leading the budgeting and forecasting process, collaborating with key stakeholders to develop accurate and actionable financial plans.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage cash flow, liquidity, and working capital effectively.
  • Commitment to upholding the highest ethical standards and integrity in financial management practices.
  • Ability to thrive in a team and autonomous environment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to hire, develop, and manage a high-performing team, fostering a culture of accountability, growth, and development.
